Can you help this beautiful mama?

I want to introduce you to Mama Cora.

She was given up by her human when the rescue team showed up and explained to him that the babies she was carrying would require a lot of work. A friend of mine is fostering this Mama and guess who came along  this Wednesday? Mama's 10 babies!!!

Aren't they adorable? I just want to hug and love them all - but my fur babies would so not be happy with 10 new additions, let alone 1... They don't even like when other babies walk on our sidewalk! The group that is responsible for Mama Cora's fostering does a great job of placing all their animals - so I'm sure they'll get enough loving where ever they end up. But in the meantime do you know how much it costs to take care of 1 puppy? Multiply that by 10 - plus mama who has heart worm. That's a lot of $ for these foster mamas and papas to come up with.
So I'm asking you to help! They are using ChipIn to help raise money for the care of Mama and the babies. The donations are made through PayPal. You can print a receipt if you need it for tax purposes.

Every little bit will help keep these beautiful animals alive and healthy! If you can only spare $1 that's $1 more than Mama Cora had before.

I donated the other day, but I think I'm going to be making another donation soon! I'm not asking you to do anything I wouldn't do.

Let's get Mama Cora and her babies the help they need. If you can spare it I appreciate it. If not I understand, I've been there more than once in my life!!!!

Giveaway: SodaStream

I've been eyeing these Soda Streams for quite a while now. They look so awesome! So I'm really excited to be able give one of my readers (hopefully!!!) a chance to win one! I have to thank Free Hot Samples for letting me be a part of this giveaway! Good Luck!

  Photobucket
    SODASTREAM GIVEAWAY
I have a new favorite thing, Sodastream. I'm not kidding, this thing is fantastic! My husband does too, he was like a kid on Christmas morning when it arrived. You can easily make a liter of soda in less than 3 minutes. I was sent a Sodastream, the Genesis model and tons of sodamix to sample. Each sodamix is enough to make 12 liters of drink, each sparkling naturals contains enough syrup to make 6 liters of drink, each bottle of MyWater Flavor Essence will flavor about 20 liters of water, you only need half a teaspoon for each liter you make of this! Mixer bottles start around $4.99 and go up to $9.99, depending on the size of the bottle.
What I liked the most about Sodastream is you don't need electricity or batteries to work. This makes it perfect to use anywhere you need it. You don't have to worry about plugging it in on the counter or kitchen table. You can use it where it's most convenient for you.
You want to know if the sodas taste good. Yes, it taste just like the soda you buy in the store. There are few differences though, There are less calories and less sugar in Sodastream sodas. Plus, the soda flavors don't have any high-fructose corn syrup in the regular flavors, and no aspartame in the diet flavors. Sparkling Naturals doesn't have artificial flavors, artificial colors, artificial sweeteners or any preservatives.
Watch the video to see how easy Sodastream is to use!

Ended: Giveaway: Handy Cooler

Let me say thanks to Sara Lees Deals and Steals for letting me be a part of this awesome giveaway! This little fan looks like it would come in handy quite often!

This Review & Giveaway is done by SaraLee's Deals Steals & Giveaways

Product Description

Small fan that can cool air up to 30F. This revolutionary evaporative cooling fan is the closest thing to a hand held mini air conditioner! Use it outdoors or keep it indoors as a desk fan. Provides gentle cool breeze. Uses evaporative cooling technology. Add water to soak the cooling filter. Ambient air is forced through the wet cooling filter and cools down. Works best in dry and hot climates. Fully portable and mobile, take it literally anywhere you want. Rotatable turbine wheel allows adjustment of the cool breeze of air. Humidifies air - makes breathing comfortable and alleviates allergies. Variable power control. Stands by itself on any flat surface. Comfortable adjustable leather strap. Ergonomically designed, user-friendly, and easy to use. Environmentally friendly. 4xAA batteries allow 5 hours portable operation. Connect to USB (cable included) or home socket power (sold separately) for continuous operation. Includes dedicated 60ml water bottle, USB cable and 1x cooling filter. Best for hot flashes, home and office use, camping, outdoor sports, watching the game, and more.

Patented, air cooling technology in a small portable device
Similar to large air cooling units and swamp coolers, the Handy Cooler utilizes the principles of 'evaporative cooling'. To activate the air cooler, you simply need to wet the included cellulose cooling filter and Handy Cooler will do the rest.
The turbine draws air through the moistened filter, directing the cool air onto you. The process transforms uncomfortable hot air into a cool breeze (up to 30°F cooler) that refreshes and satisfies you.
The cooling performance may not be as powerful as compressor-based air conditioners, but if you are looking for a lightweight and portable solution to take around anywhere, evaporative cooling is the only option!
NOTE: Optimum cooling performance achieved under hot and dry environments.

My Take:
Let me say WOW! I love this fan. I plugged it in to my computer and used it while sitting on my lap top blogging and I can say this little fan works & when I say works it made my face cold. I have been having 90 degree heat where I live and I only turn my air on to 78 to get the humidity knocked down in my house and all I need to do is plug the fan in and it cools me down. I love how it works by getting the sponge damp. I am going to the drag races in August and can't wait to bring this with me to use while sitting out in the heat. Any one can use this and  let me say this does help when you get a hot flash :)

Now for the giveaway: One lucky person will win a Handy Cooler in your choice of color (blue/black/pink). This is open to the US only and ends 7/08 @ 11:59 pm est. To enter, simply do the tasks on the Rafflecopter widget below and you're set to have a chance to win! Complete all the entries listed to better your chances to win.

Closed - Giveaway: Vizardz Night Light

These night lights look so awesome. I want to try one! And while I can't enter the giveaway (as I'm part of the giveaway) here's a chance for you to win a special keepsake. I would love to make one of these of my family dog that passed away a few years ago. What better way to remember her then to have her image always lighting my way? Or if my sisters and I could ever be in the same place at the same time I'd love to have a picture of us taken and give it to my mother. The possibilities are really endless for this one! I love it :-) So good luck! Hopefully a Just Jennifer Talking reader will be winning this one! How cool would that be?

Personalized Vizardz 2.5D Night Light Giveaway!
Welcome to the Personalized Vizardz 2.5D Night Light Giveaway hosted by Giveaway Maven and several other awesome blogs!
*Full review by Giveaway Maven.
I've just recently been introduced to Vizardz products and was fortunate enough to receive a personalized 2.5D night light to review.
Vizardz takes photo images you provide and carves them into 2.5D night lights, 2.5D light boxes, 2.5D ornaments and 3D sculptures. I absolutely love this idea! Their products really make your photos stand out!!

Wondering what 2.5D picture is? This is from the Vizardz site: "2.5D pictures combine a three-dimensional topography with your two-dimensional digital photographs and images. This combination adds depth, texture, and contrast to breathe life into your ordinary photos. When light is applied to a Vizardz 2.5D picture, the stunning beauty of our technique is demonstrated, rendering the image in 3D."
I chose one of my favorite pictures of my dad, who passed away a little over two years ago. The night light couldn't have arrived at a more appropriate time. I received it on Saturday, June 16th, the day before Father's Day! What a wonderful surprise that was!! I opened the box, unwrapped the night light immediately plugged it in and just sat there and bawled like a baby. My favorite picture of my dad, made into a night light! The night light is across the room from where I sit in the living room. I look up in the evenings and there's my dad, shining and smiling at me! I either smile or get all teary-eyed when I look at it. Thank you Vizardz for the wonderful job you have done with my father's picture! Vizardz turned this picture..... Into this wonderful night light! The above image does not do the night light justice at all. This was the best picture that I could get. The image on the night light is a lot more clear in person than it is in the picture!! I like my Vizardz night light so much that I'm going to have a family picture made into a light box. I can't wait to see it sitting on my mantel!
Vizardz Light Box

BzzAgent Review: Bic Soleil Savvy

First off I have to thank BzzAgent for letting me be a part of this campaign.
Want to join BzzAgent? Send me an email (Jennmarie 68 at gmail dot com) and I'll send you an invite!

For this product review BzzAgent sent me a pack of Bic's new razor and some coupons to help create Bzz! My opinion on this product is honest and has not been influenced by BzzAgent or Bic.

First off let me give you some information about the Bic Soleil Savvy:

  • Each BIC Soleil Savvy package contains one disposable handle and four refillable cartridges
  • The razor's handle includes a rubber grip for added control
  • Tripple-Blade heads feature flexible blade technology and lubricating strips with Vitamin E
  • Pivoting heads are made to follow a woman's contours and provide a super-close shave
  • Available at grocery stores, drug stores, and mass retailers for a suggested retail price of $7.49
In my campaign kit Bic shares some secrets to getting a close shave:

  • Shave at night - Shaving removes dead skin cells and the superficial layer of skin. While this process is healthy, it reduces your skin's defenses for a couple hours. Shaving at night gives your skin time to recover its strength and suppleness to resist irritation the next day.
  • Shave clean skin - To help prevent infection and bumps, make sure your skin is perfectly clean before you shave. Apply hot water beforehand or shave after showering. Warm humidity increases skin elasticity and softens your hair, making it easier to shave.
  • Apply shaving cream or gel - Use shaving cream or gel with Aloe Vera when shaving — it's gentler on your skin than regular soap and can help lift hair. Lather the cream or gel, then leave it on for two minutes prior to shaving. Once your hair is softened, the razor will glide more easily over skin.
  • Use a sharp blade - Change your blades regularly, especially if you have sensitive skin. On sensitive areas like your bikini line and underarms, shaving with a dull blade can result in red spots.
You can check out feelthesoleil.com or the Bic Soleil Facebook Page for more information. Just an FYI there's a giveaway going on on the Bic Facebook Page!

My Bzz Campaign Kit

My Review:

When I got my package in the mail I immediately opened it and started reading the brochure that was included. As I was reading through the tips I was thinking "isn't shaving just shaving". But I guess everyone does it a little different so here were my thoughts on the tips. I don't have a regular schedule of any kind so I shave whenever I take a shower - sometimes in the morning, sometimes at night. I do however shave clean skin - I shave after I finish washing up in the shower - when is your skin cleaner than that? I used to use shave gel, now I just use body wash, soap, or even shampoo (it leaves my legs so silky feeling).  But I thought to myself who lets the cream sit for two minutes? I shave in the shower, if I left the cream on for two minutes it would all be rinsed off before I even got a chance to shave! Then the last one just seemed like a duh kind of statement - then I thought about it and realized I know lots of women who will use the same razor for quite a while. Me being the picky person I am doesn't mean that everyone does things the way I do them so.....

Now onto the razor: I've tried almost everything out there to remove body hair - waxing, bleaching, and hair remover creams but I always come back to shaving because it's easy (a.k.a. painless), it's consistent (no patches of missed hair), and I don't have to sit for 6 minuets with stinky cream on my legs. I shave my legs and underarms everyday in the summer, and close to everyday the rest of the year. My hair grows so fast that I wouldn't be able to keep up on it any other way! So with as often as I shave I go through razors quite fast. I used to buy men's razors with the changeable cartridges because they worked really well - then I moved away from home and had to start buying my own razors. Sticker shock changed that habit. I will occasionally buy a razor and/or cartridges if they are on sale but for the most part I've been a disposable girl for quite a while (although I do have quite the arsenal of razors waiting for the day their cartridges go on sale!) I've bought so many different brands of disposable razors. But I've never really found one that I can call "my brand". It's such a frustrating thing for me. It shouldn't be this hard to find a good razor should it?

When I opened the actual razor there were a few things that I noticed. The razor has a "dummy" cartridge on it. Had I just opened it and stuck it in the shower I would have been a bit perturbed that I had to get out and put a regular cartridge on it. However I do like the dummy cartridge because I can put the dummy head on when I'm traveling and not break the prongs that hold the cartridges on. Second the cartridges are in holders that can be pulled apart. They are kind of hinged together and you can snap them apart at the hinges (and they do snap back together.) This will make traveling nice. I don't have to cram a pack of four cartridges with my razor, I can just pull one of the holders off and throw it in my bag. Great idea!

So when I signed up for this Bzz Campaign I wasn't expecting too much. I've been disappointed at some point by all the disposable razors I've tried (Bic disposables included.) And I figured they would probably get rid of the hair but I might have to go over it twice, or it will cut my legs all up, or I'll have tons of irritation later. Like I said I've not had great experiences with disposable razors... But since this is a disposable razor with refillable cartridges it does have an initial appeal to me (maybe now I can throw out my arsenal of razor handles.) But we'll have to see how it works.

So I set off to the shower to try my new razor. First my underarms. This is my #1 problem area, by far. I can't ever seem to get as close a shave as I want and I always have red bumps afterward. The Soleil Savvy got much closer than my last razor for sure. Was it the closest underarm shave I've ever had? No, but it did get pretty close and it didn't leave any red bumps. So that's a good thing! Next my legs - I am always nicking myself or getting razor burn and I think this is because to get the close shave I want I have to shave my legs twice usually. So I shaved my legs rinsed them off and felt to see if they needed a second pass. Guess what? No second pass needed! Yippee! I got out of the shower and did my normal routine - put lotion on my legs. After about an hour, which is when the razor burn kicks in usually my legs felt fine. No red bumps, no nicks, no razor burn. So call me pleasantly surprised :-)

I would have to say this was much better than any disposable razor I've tried and better than some of the razor/cartridge combos I've used before. There is still one razor/cartridge combo I prefer - but given the price on this razor it is a much better solution! Overall I liked it and I will be purchasing these in the future.

Father's Day Cheesecake Coupon Haul

So tomorrow we're having a dinner for all the fathers in our family. Everyone is going to bring their father's favorite dish. My dad's favorite is cheesecake. I found an awesome cheesecake recipe when I purchased my springform pans a few years ago. It's so good.... But it can be a bit expensive to buy all the stuff to make a cheesecake from scratch. I thought it would be a stretch but I set my budget at $15 and set off online to find the cheapest way to make this wonderful cheesecake!

Here's the ingredients:
Crust:
1 1/4 cup of graham cracker crumbs
2 Tbspn granulated sugar
1/4 cup butter

Filling:
2 lbs. cream cheese
1 1/4 cup granulated sugar
4 large eggs
2 tspn vanilla extract
1/4 cup heavy cream (I use whipping cream)
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup seedless jam

The only things I had on hand were the butter, vanilla, and eggs (we didn't even have any sugar in the house!)

So I needed quite a bit for only $15.

The most expensive part of this is the cream cheese. I've used store brand before, but it doesn't taste right. So I buy Philadelphia Cream Cheese - which is expensive when you need 4 of them! But Kmart has them on sale for 2/$4 and I found a $1/2 coupon - Yeah me :-) While I was at Kmart I found sour cream for only $1 (since you don't need much the little tubs work just fine). Two down!

Then I headed to Meijer - Meijer sells small bags of Pioneer sugar (and since we don't use much sugar around here - again, I didn't need the big bag). Then the whipping cream was on sale 2/$3. Normally I use Comstock pie filling but I was on a budget and at almost $4 a can I couldn't bring myself to do it, especially when I only use 1/4 of the can. So I bought Smucker's spreadable fruit (strawberry) which is a much smaller jar - so it costs less and I had a $0.35/1 coupon - plus Meijer doubles up to $0.50 here! Then I needed graham crackers and luckily Meijer brand graham crackers were on sale 2/$4. So while I was checking out I realized I hadn't checked my Meijer mPerks account in a while and guess what was in there - a $2 off your order coupon! I quickly "clipped" it before I got to the register.

So here's my breakdown
4 - cream cheese $6
sour cream $1
sugar - $1.99
whipping cream $1.50
spreadable fruit - 1.69
graham crackers - $2.00
mPerks - $2 off
Grand Total: $12.18 :-) Yeah me!

I was so happy that I came in under budget that I let myself buy a wedding magazine! Well between being under budget and the fact that I just won $10 from Meg's Moxie today I decided I could splurge :-)

Even with the magazine I left both stores only spending $17.42! That's the cheapest cheesecake I've made yet! Normally with everything I have to buy I don't get out of the store for less than $20

For those that want to try this awesome cheesecake here's the recipe that I use:

Crust:
Combine ingredient in small bowl. Press evenly onto bottom of buttered 8 1/2" springform pan.

Filling:
Preheat oven to 450. In large mixing bowl beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add sugar. Add eggs one at a time, scrape down sides of bowl after each addition. Stir in vanilla, heavy cream and sour cream. Pour batter into prepared pan. Drizzle jam over top, swirl lightly with butter knife. Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes, reduce temperature to 250 (open door until temperature reduces) and bake 1 hour or until edges are firm but center wiggles. Place on wire rack to cool. Refrigerate until cold. (I have found that if I make it before I go to bed at night it's ready to eat when I get up.)

Hope you enjoy!

Happy Father's Day!
-Jennifer
